Nachos are a Spanish dish comprised of triangular shaped crisps covered with cheese or cheese based sauce served with served with a snack. With added ingredients it can be served as a main dish. The first nachos in 1943 by Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya was made of fried corn, tortillas covered with melted cheddar cheese and chopped jalapeno pepper. A better version of the dish with prepared tortilla chips with cheese sauce was introduced to the market by Frank Liberto who owned Rico’s Products. Anaya Ignacio died in 1975 and as a way to honor him a bronze plaque was put up I Piedras Negras declaring a Nacho day.(October 21 ).
If you are a body builder here is a low fat, high protein, recipe for nachos to eat as you kick back and watch a movie in the evening after training;
- Lean grout meat depending on your preference (beef, turkey, chicken etc.)
- Low fat baked chips
- Low fat bacon or chicken
- Cheese slices
First cook the meet to the required readiness, chop the vegetables to your preferred size and lay out the chips on a baking sheet.
